Xander is a sleeping boy who cannot awaken. Excited to travel a world he thinks is more interesting than the real one, he and his dog set out to adventure through the World of Dreams. Xander quickly discovers, however, that there are consequences to remaining in this world too long, and must find a way to wake up.

Leila is another dreamer, unable to wake herself from the World of Dreams. Xander rescues her from the City of the Blind, and she joins him both to enjoy the experiences of the dream world, and to find a way to escape it.

Henry is a Dream Dweller, one of the many that act the parts of characters in the human imagination when our minds touch the Realm of Children's Dreams. He is a brave soul, skilled with a sword, and has had many adventures of his own before he joins Xander to help the boy find a way home.

Dog is, well, a dog. Xander is not quite sure how his dog ended up following him to the dream world, but his faithful companion has already proven himself brave and loyal.
